Using a large envelope i created a calendar board. Sometimes people have a big board at home where they pin plans, ideas and old memories on. This was what i intended to create with a bunch of old things i had kept for no reason other than i couldn't throw it away as i believed they could be used. Some of these things were kept for my scrapbook that i haven't got round to doing. I created a collage using an old calender, train tickets, cinema tickets, photos and old doodles. Together it shows a busy life. It shows how this person has ceased what they wanted to do and followed it. In the bottom left corner i wrote some lines from the poem "The Prelude" by William Wordsworth as the entire ballard covers the idea of a dream turning into a nightmare. It's there as a reminder to dream but not fall back into the unhealthy dream state. I learned that poem for my GCSE and the photos on the right are from my summer after finishing High school. This piece also shows the freedom i got once GCSE were over, i felt a lot happier and invested in life.

Inside the envelope is a piece of cardboard, one side represents childhood, the other side is about dreaming. I wanted this to be on the inside of the envelope as ambitions come from dreams and dreams develop from childhood. They all connect and hold a place in our heart so it made sense to me. For the childhood side i stuck down pieces i kept from when i was little. Map of disneyland, a picture i began colouring in and a fairy i cut out from my favourite colouring book. This side is quite delicate with a mix of light colours. The only dark thing is the black heart that i used to create a print on the other side. I wanted to show that they are both connected. A child has a full heart, full of love and innocence this is only lost when you grow up. So on the other side i painted a black print to show there is no actual heart there, but there once was now it's looking for something to fill it up and use as an escape.

The dream side has more patterns and colours that overtake the whole piece, makes it look really busy as when dreaming you deal through all your emotions that you held in during the day. there's more conflict and confusion as people begin to get lost in their dreaming. I created an outline of a musical symbol as music is important to me and helps enhance dreams as a distraction, noise to block out the world. I also wrote some lines from the The Prelude on the red paper. Its from before the nightmare happens and Wordsworth is describing how beautiful nature is around him. This was a trap as he was drawn to a dark mountain that made him afraid. Like a siren dreams look safe but can pull you in to deep.

I included some images from a play "The moon is halfway to heaven" as the play was very sorrowful, about two friends growing up together from childhood until they die. They talked about ambitions and dreams and near the end how they did not accomplish all those. But they lived a full life and were happy as its okay to not achieve everything. Lastly i used an old painting of a face and stuck down some birds i drew over her head like a crown. It's a play on the flight or fight response. Instead of dreaming to escape like this collage represents people need to take a grasp on life and fight and use these dreams to create a plan and create the first collage where they are living life to the full.
To develop this i would want to work on my collage skills. Try different compositions, images and materials. I would like to create an unusual fantasy like image with cut outs from a magazine like the artist Eugenia Loli Fuses and others. I like the vintage essence and how it creates another world in the image.
