Lost in the Crowd

I decided to recreate this timelapse image of people walking by as it made me think about people living busy lives with stressful jobs and so on, therefore unable to look after themselves and accomplish their own dreams. I decided to use different coloured tissue paper so i could layer them on top of each other so the images could be built up and look crowded. Showing how everyone live different lives and no one can truly know what goes on in others lives. I didn't do as many as i had first pictured as some of the coloured tissue paper were too dark to see anything through. Furthermore, my page isn't big enough to fit enough on without complete overlapping. To develop this i would do it on a larger scale but keep the tissue paper pieces same size so the people are small and it shows how each life is lost in stress and no one is really connected in this mass crowd. Additionally you can only really know someone if you got close to them and gave them attention, the same way you would have to look closer to see each individual person.

Taking pieces of tissue paper i drew people i saw from the sculpture and drew them using fine liner. Some of the people i drew with tippex as the white stood out more on the dark colours. Then i layered them on top of each other. Some images got a little lost with the dark colours but i like the use of silhouettes and bold colours. I think for the large piece as development i would do each silhoueete in black to show how they are not happy as well as for it to stand out on the lighter colours. I would only use light colours to show how they are missing out on beautiful things due to all the work they have to do therefore can not appreciate the world.
The page next to this became an experiment of its own as i found the fineliner went through the tissue paper when i was drawing on it. This created a print on the page. After a little more experimenting i found i could also rub fine liner on the page using tissue paper and can also do a literal print onto the page. The layering of ink shows the same idea of stress building up and feeling invisible and unneeded.
