This piece represents the gaps we forget once we wake up from our dreams. The page on the right shows the pieces we do remember which are very vague and usually dont make much sense, so i did random brush strokes and didnt let the colours mix so it appears more complexed and unordered. I like the lines created by the clingfilm on the edges and the rough paint strokes that come out of it as they are very strong but lost as you can not see the source that they come from.

The left page i put the clingfilm to show how the paint turned out on that material. Each strip is very different which i think shows the different stages of dreaming that can occur as we have multiple dreams in one night. When the pages are close the strips will line up with the paint on the other page, filling in the gaps like when we have a reaccuring dream, however the gaps return when opening the pages as we would forget the dream again.I let the colour purple dominate over the others as i thought it linked to nightmares with the darkness. We usually remember nightmares more due to the heightened emotions and anxiety That's why i painted the strokes more violently. The red paint was for nice dreams as the colour is warm and the dreams can come as a comfort so will be embraced. It is also a happier colour with its brightness and bold, but also has subtle pink as an undertone making it more delicate as the dreams are precious. I included a little green to represent the unusual dreams as they are so random and unexpected. They aren't always terrible but create unusual feelings of confusion so are not so enjoyed.
To develop this i would like to do it as a bigger piece to explore the different colours and paint strokes more as there will be more room to show them. I would also like to try different backgrounds like black paper or scrap metal to see the outcome and how it changes the emotions conveyed by the colours. I think if other mediums or patterns are added it will look too much and be complicated, loosing the meaning and effect.
