Creative Waves

Experimenting on this page i began with a fineliner. I started drawing lines, going different directions of cross hatching very compact in the top left corner. Then drawing long, straight, lines coming out across the page before starting to draw loose, wavy lines. I repeated the dense line drawing in the bottom right corner but with wavy lines. I thought this random, on the spot idea worked well with what i was intending to show. The rigid lines are information learnt that are then processed and help create new, original ideas which you see happening on the page as the straight lines turn into waves. As human minds are more complicated than that i ripped up a piece of paper that had dried paint on. I had used this page as a palette to roll paint on a rolling pin for another piece. I thought how the colours marked the page in patches and mixed together was interesting, like different aspects of a personality creates different thought tracks and are all used to come up with original ideas. I ripped this page up and stuck it down on the page, pieces layering over each other as our memories and thoughts are influenced by each other therefore overlapping. To fill in the white gaps on the pieces of ripped paper i drew a mix of cross hatching and wavy lines but the opposite sides from the first page. The way the lines on the layered paper interacts with the lines on the first page is intriguing as you have to look closely to tell the type of lines (wavy or straight) apart. This reflects how it is hard to understand all our thoughts and dreams as sections get confusing all lost.
To develop this experiment i would like to try it with different materials like coloured cellophane sheets, using paint or felt marker pens to draw lines on one side. Maybe try drawing the lines in a ball in the middle of the page, half cross hatch and half wavy lines with sparks of lines coming out. These lines merged together in a ball represent the brain. Or half them on either side of the page. So a semicircle of cross hatch lines on the left with lines coming out that turn wavy which goes into a semi circle wavy line drawing on the right. Similar to like neurons creating impulses as they pass through.
