Collagraph- Relief Print

   Using random materials collected from outside i created a collage by gluing them down to the printing plate. Using twigs, leaves and paper i created a face sleeping, being held by hands. This was inspired by a song by Son Lux called dream state. I feel this image didn't quite present itself on the collage due to the materials. For a collagraph to work i think it needs planning ahead for the image to work with the right materials. However i did not have this time to plan.
   After gluing the materials down i coated it with varnish to protect the materials so it could be used to print with acrylic paints. It would be interesting to see how the materials create marks when painted and printed. To work with collagraph i think i need to try various different materials and see how they develop when used in a collagraph, before using the materials together to turn it into images.
